We begin our journey aboard the Thacher Island launch leaving from “T” wharf in Rockport. You will pass by the famous Motif #1 fishing shack, the most photographed building in Massachusetts . Our launch was built in 1989 and designed in similar fashion to the WWII landing craft famous for their landings at Normandy and the Philippines . It accommodates 15 passengers plus a crew of 3.It is Coast Guard certified and has life preservers under the seats. Constructed of heavy gauge aluminum and is 22 feet long and carries a 120 hp outboard motor which will allow us to make the 3+ mile trip in about 30 minutes. The launch has a flat bottom which enables it to land directly on the boat ramp on the Island and is winched up the ramp allowing the passengers to debark directly on the ramp through the drop down door in the bow.
